Last summer, I attended the ASPE conference for the first time. I had been an SP Educator for six months, and knew I would be learning a lot, but really had no idea what to expect. Nine months later, and having just booked my attendance at the 2018 conference, these are my lasting impressions, along with advice that did (or would have done) me some good:

Each year two categories of posters, research and innovation, are eligible for competition and recognition during the conference. Eligible posters are judged using criteria based on Glassick criteria for scholarship (Glassick CE et al, San Francisco, CA: Jossey-Bass, 1997) and first-place and honorable mention prizes are awarded for each category. Details regarding the winning posters, as provided along with all poster submissions on the conference website, follow below. Congratulations to the winners!

ASPE currently has four SIGs (GTA/MUTA, Hybrid, Interprofessional Education, and SPs Beyond Healthcare) that are all housed with the Educational Content Committee. ASPE Board of Directors President-elect Valerie Fulmer is the Director of the Standardized Patient Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In preparation for the 2017 ASPE Conference, “Building a Global Network to Expand Ideas and Knowledge,” in Alexandria, VA, Val shared some thoughts about what she is looking forward to at the conference:
