Guide to the Certificate Exam

This Certificate Exam is a summative assessment for Course One: Fundamentals of SP Methodology. The exam is anchored in the learning objectives and content of the Lessons presented in Course One and ASPE’s Standards of Best Practice (ASPE-SOBP). Examinees are encouraged to prepare by studying ASPE-SOPB in addition to Course One content. Supplemental resources include the International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulations Standards and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Code of Ethics.

How is the Certificate Exam Disseminated?

The Certificate Exam is offered, online, through ASPE's Center for SP Methodology. Once you're registered for the exam, a link will be provided to you in the confirmation email that will take you to ASPE's Center for SP Methodology and access to the exam. Participants are able to sit for the exam at their convenience and are allotted the time they need to complete the exam. 

Scoring

No predetermined percentage of examinees will pass or fail the examination. The recommended minimum passing level is approximately 80% of items answered correctly to achieve a passing score.
Examinees are allowed three attempts to pass the examination within a 12-month period, including incomplete attempts. Although the examination is untimed, it must be completed in a single administration.
 
*Please note, should you not pass the exam, a seven (7) day waiting period is required before a second attempt can be made, and you will be required to pay the exam fee again. Please contact [email protected] for the retake application once the seven (7) day waiting period has been met.
