Title: ASPE Book Café Discussion Forum on ‘Quiet’

Description:
The ASPE Online Learning and Resources Committee (OLR) invites you to join our Book Café: A Community Discussion about books in a casual atmosphere to explore topics of interest, share your insights, and connect with colleagues.

Our next selected book for the Book Café is ‘Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking’. Do you know about 25-40% of the population are introverts? They are the ones who tend to be quiet, who prefer working on their own on projects, who favor getting things done while avoiding boasting themselves. You may closely identify some of these character traits within yourself or in someone you know. In ‘Quiet’, Susan Cain argues how our society has dramatically undervalued introverts and shows how this idea permeates our culture, altering our view on leadership and creativity. If any of these strikes a chord in you, please join us in our next Book Café Discussion forum. Come and listen to our panelists discussing their thoughts on the book ‘Quiet’, reflecting the crucial takeaways, and how this may impact their daily SP work. Registered attendees can also participate in the latter part of this interactive discussion forum. Susan Cain’s Ted Talk on ‘Quiet’ The review of this book has been excellent. We think this book is suitable for anyone interested in exploring how we cherish the talents and abilities of introverts in a culture where being social and outgoing are heavily valued.
