Creating an Abstract

Presented by Karen Szauter, MD
University of Texas Medical Branch

Webinar Summary:

Regional and national meetings provide a wonderful opportunity for people involved in medical education to present projects or research studies.  Limited space at most meetings necessitates selection of presentations by a program committee through the review of abstracts.  Writing an abstract that effectively represents your work and captures the interest of the reviewers is important.  Writing abstracts can be difficult and time consuming, but guidelines can be used to assist in this process.

The goals of this presentation are to:

  1. discuss the basic structure of an abstract
  2. provide tips on abstract development
  3. provide on opportunity for an interactive abstract critique, allowing participants to critically analyze sample abstracts.
