Scholars Certificate Program
The purpose of the ASPE Scholars Certificate Program is to promote the advancement of standardized patient methodology and research through scholarly endeavors by ASPE members. Program Objectives are:
- To provide a formalized structure for SP educators interested in learning ways to advance their everyday work to scholarship
- To provide the foundational skills for scholarship related to SPs
- To provide one-on-one mentoring of SP educators to assist with the development and execution of scholarship projects using SPs or SP related information
All participants begin with the Introduction to Scholarship pre-conference workshop (presented annually). In addition, participants must attend three core workshops offered during the ASPE Conference. One core workshop will be offered each year; scholars must attend all three, in any order. Participants will receive one hour of 1:1 or small group mentoring by an experienced SPE scholar during the ASPE meeting with the goal of helping participants plan for presenting a work of scholarship at the next year’s annual meeting.
Educators who complete the four required workshops will receive a certificate. Educators who also present a work of scholarship at an annual meeting within two years of completing the program will be designated “ASPE scholars.”
