SP Educator Professional Development Program
NEW THIS YEAR:
ASPE’s Education and Professional Development Committee is introducing the SP Educator Professional Development Program. The SP Educator Professional Development Program consists of an ever expanding set of ASPE approved learning sessions that present recognized best practices in standardized patient methodology. Selected sessions offered at this year’s conference will be noted as “Core Curriculum” in the conference schedule. Sessions offered through this program are a perfect addition to your professional development portfolio. All participants in SP Educator Professional Development Program sessions will receive a Certificate of Participation upon completion of each session.
**Some of the identified courses must be registered for separately from the Conference, and we suggest you register ahead of time!!

The ASPE Conference Committee is hard at work and making progress on conference programming for San Diego. Authors who submitted abstracts for consideration can expect to receive their notification letters by the end of this month. In the meantime, a few highlights of confirmed programming are here!
The topic of Interprofessional Education (IPE) is hot right now, and you’ll be able to hear a lot about it at our San Diego conference. Sessions about IPE that are being scheduled for the conference include a pre-conference workshop, a plenary session, and at least two break-out sessions during the conference. For the novice to the advanced SP Educator, the variety of sessions will have something of interest to all of us.
A new series of sessions, The Masters Series, will be introduced at our 2012 meeting. These presentations and workshops will be led by some of ASPE’s own experts and will be sprinkled throughout the conference schedule. Make sure to pick one or two that look interesting! Speakers and topics for the Masters Series sessions include:

Interested in Pediatric simulation? Consider attending the 4th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops (IPSSW2011) to be held in Toulouse, France October 26-27, 2011. IPSSW2011 will again represent the largest single gathering devoted to Pediatric and Perinatal Simulation worldwide, and the target audience includes all individuals interested in the art and the science of simulation based education and training for pre and post-graduate training of a wide range of multidisciplinary, multiprofessional pediatric health care providers.
The 11th Annual International Nursing Simulation & Learning Resource Centers Conference 2012, in San Antonio, TX, is a leading forum for nurse educators, researchers, nurse managers, and staff development professionals provides the ideal environment to disseminate and gain current knowledge in the area of skills/simulation lab management and simulation enhanced education. Nurses and other healthcare professionals will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and exhibitors; discuss best practice research, safety-related outcomes, competencies, and challenges. Call for abstracts now through November 7, 2011.
The 2012 Ottawa Conference will be held Mar 9-13, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Held biennially, the Ottawa Conferences provide a forum for medical and other healthcare professions educators to network and share ideas on all aspects of the assessment of competence in both clinical and non-clinical domains, throughout the continuum of education.
