The October ASPE News is now available.  As ASPE kicks off the annual Call for Abstracts this week, we’ve focused this issue around the development of conference proposals – from finding inspiration, to best practices, to practical considerations – and we hope you become as excited about the development of the ASPE 2012 conference program as we are!

Interested in Pediatric simulation?  Consider attending the 4th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops (IPSSW2011) to be held in Toulouse, France October 26-27, 2011.  IPSSW2011 will again represent the largest single gathering devoted to Pediatric and Perinatal Simulation worldwide, and the target audience includes all individuals interested in the art and the science of simulation based education and training for pre and post-graduate training of a wide range of multidisciplinary, multiprofessional pediatric health care providers.

The 11th Annual International Nursing Simulation & Learning Resource Centers Conference 2012, in San Antonio, TX, is a leading forum for nurse educators, researchers, nurse managers, and staff development professionals provides the ideal environment to disseminate and gain current knowledge in the area of skills/simulation lab management and simulation enhanced education. Nurses and other healthcare professionals will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and exhibitors; discuss best practice research, safety-related outcomes, competencies, and challenges.  Call for abstracts now through November 7, 2011.

The 2012 Ottawa Conference will be held Mar 9-13, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Held biennially, the Ottawa Conferences provide a forum for medical and other healthcare professions educators to network and share ideas on all aspects of the assessment of competence in both clinical and non-clinical domains, throughout the continuum of education.

 We have been hard at work collaborating with several organizations to create a certification program for SP Educators/Simulation Educators. The next step in the process is for as many members as possible to complete a practice analysis survey.  This is an extremely important step and I can't stress enough how important it is for you to participate.

You will note that the survey site only includes the SSH logo, but rest assured we are a strong partner on this project and your input is vital! Please read the information below and complete the survey as soon as possible.  The survey will close Oct 2, 2011.

The deadline to nominate yourself or your colleague to one of the open ASPE Board of Directors positions, Member Liaison or Vice President of Operations, is TOMORROW, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11:59 PM EDT.
 
To put forward a nomination, email Amber Hansel, current VP of Operations, at hansela@upstate.edu.  Amber can provide you with a template for the letter of institutional support that you'll need to include.  You'll also need to create a letter of intent which will serve as your "slate," posted on the ballot.
